New John Deere Gator UTVs Offer More Cargo Space & Come Precision Ag-Ready
Full-size John Deere Gator XUV crossover utility vehicles can ably serve trail riders, hunters, anglers, groundskeepers, turf managers, and ranchers alike. But Deere designed its all-new Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 UTVs expressly to make farmers’ lives easier. The manufacturer builds the newest Gators with a larger cargo box and offers an option that preps the UTVs for Deere precision ag components.
“The Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 are built with farmers for farmers," says Eric Halfman, John Deere’s go-to-market manager for Gator UTVs. "We worked with farmers across the U.S. and Canada to make this machine more versatile for all the work they do on the farm.”
Meet The New Gators
The 3-passenger UTVs have a 4,000-pound (1,814-kilogram) towing capacity, a continuously variable transmission (CTV), a dash-switch-actuated four-wheel-drive system, and an 11.2-gallon (42.4-liter) fuel capacity. Customers can choose from several configurations, including an HVAC model with a climate-controlled cab to keep passengers comfortable year-round.
The XUV 845 has a 4-cycle, liquid-cooled, electronic fuel-injected gas engine rated for 53 horsepower (40 kilowatts). The XUV 875 packs a 4-cycle, liquid-cooled diesel engine that generates 22.8 HP (17 kW). Depending on the model and configuration, you can acquire features such as Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 extreme terrain radial tires on steel or alloy wheels, LED headlights, a rear camera, a Bumper Pro brush guard, and a touchscreen infotainment system.
A Class-Leading Cargo Box
The UTVs’ redesigned cargo box has 18.5 feet3 (0.5 meters3) of volume, 13% roomier than previous models, and a 1,000-lb (454-kg) hauling capacity. You’ll find a 12-volt SAE power port, eight divider slots to keep your supplies and materials in place and organized, and a redesigned tailgate with a flat work surface, a ruler, a V-groove for cutting pipe, and other handy features.
Owners can also add an optional mountable utility rack to the cargo box and use clamping points to secure items, fold-flat tie-downs, tie-down pockets for straps, and four stake pockets on each side that work with stake pocket clamps to hold tools.
Around The Farm & Ranch
Customers choosing the HVAC configuration can have Deere factory-install a GreenStar Ready option to equip the UTV with all the brackets and wiring needed to add a roof-mounted StarFire receiver and a G5 universal display. Deere says customers can install a dedicated receiver and display or use those from their other pieces of equipment. The company includes a JDLink modem for sending and receiving data wirelessly to and from the John Deere Operations Center.
Deere says this plug-and-play approach to installing ag precision components lets farmers take advantage of the UTVs' faster speed, lighter weight, and maneuverability while performing boundary, field, and tile mapping and other tasks, all at a lower operating cost. Furthermore, the setup provides a switch bank with a switch for the AutoTrac assisted-steering system and an ISO implement connector for use with sprayers and other implements.
