The 2026 Transalp Is The Latest Honda Motorcycle To Get E-Clutch Technology
Honda is bringing back its Transalp middleweight adventure bike for 2026, now featuring several key updates, most notably the addition of Honda’s exclusive E-Clutch system. The 2026 Transalp E-Clutch, available in White and Deep Pearl Gray paint, becomes the first Honda adventure motorcycle and the fifth Honda overall to receive the technology.
"The adventure category's popularity continues because riders want motorcycles that can truly do it all," says American Honda Manager of Experiential Marketing, Colin Miller. "With the addition of Honda E-Clutch to the Transalp, we're making that experience even more intuitive and approachable, while the CRF300L Rally remains an incredibly capable platform for riders who want lightweight agility with real-world touring range. Both models reflect our focus on expanding adventure for a broad spectrum of customers."
What Is E-Clutch?
Honda first introduced E-Clutch in the U.S. with the 2024 CB650R and CBR650R sport bikes, followed by the 2025 Rebel 300 cruiser and 2026 CB750 Hornet middleweight naked model. For the 2026 Transalp E-Clutch, positioned between the NX500 and flagship Africa Twin in Honda’s adventure lineup, Honda adjusted the assembly to save 0.7 pounds and adjusted the mounting structure to add 1.6 inches (4 centimeters) of legroom for the rider.
How E-Clutch Functions
E-Clutch lets riders start, stop, and shift without using the handlebar-mounted clutch lever, though the lever remains in place for manual override at any time. Honda says the 2026 Transalp’s system works in tandem with throttle-by-wire (TBW) technology to deliver smooth shifting and excellent low-speed control on pavement and dirt.
TBW provides Sport, Standard, Rain, and Gravel riding modes, as well as two customizable User Modes, allowing riders to align engine performance with specific conditions and their preferences. Riders can manage these modes using a button on the left-hand switch cluster and the Transalp’s 5-in. TFT display.
New Skid Plate & Adjustable Suspension
The 2026 Transalp also features a new 2.5-mm high-strength aluminum skid plate. Inspired by customer feedback, the plate protects the motorcycle’s compact 755cc parallel-twin, eight-valve Unicam engine against rocks and other debris.
The Transalp’s suspension is also now fully adjustable for 2026. The 43-mm Showa Separate Function Fork-Cartridge (SFF-CA) inverted fork provides 7.9 in. (20 cm) of travel, while the Pro-Link rear system with a Showa remote-reservoir shock offers 7.5 in. (19 cm) of travel. The adjustability allows riders to better tailor suspension performance to their preferences and varying terrain conditions.
