Compared to sport and recreation or youth UTVs, utility UTVs typically give you more cargo space and more robust towing capabilities. Depending on the one-row, two-row, or crew cab configuration you choose, transporting passengers (typically up to six) is also possible. Such characteristics make utility UTVs excellent for doing anything from hauling bricks, tools, mulch, and other materials to landscaping sites that larger vehicles can’t reach to attaching a fertilizer tank to apply chemicals to large grass surfaces—which is precisely what Deere’s ProGator GPS Precision Sprayers and SelectSpray series are designed to do. Utility UTVs also help keep you safe on the job thanks to such features as cab enclosures, hard-top roofs, and rollover protection systems (ROPS). You’ll find utility UTVs with gas, diesel, and electric power options, with rated engine power generally ranging from 30 to 100 horsepower (22 to 74.5 kilowatts).

Inside Deere’s UTV Lineup

Deere says its Work Series Gators are built for the toughest jobs. They have cargo capacities up to around 1,200 pounds (544 kilograms) and towing capacities that reach 1,400 lbs (635 kg), and are available in two-, four-, and six-wheel configurations. Gas and diesel models can reach a maximum speed of 25 mph (40.2 km/h). The TE 4x2 Electric Gator includes an onboard charger for its Trojan T-145 batteries that works with standard wall outlets.

Mid-Size Crossover XUV Gators include the popular 560E, 590E, and 590M models, which are available in two- and four-passenger S4 variants. The lineup boasts features such as a precision-engineered drivetrain, and a high-density composite material cargo box that’s resistant to rusting and denting. XUV560 and XUV590 models have a four-wheel independent suspension for tackling tougher terrains and better handling in corners. The four-passenger models have cargo capacities up to 1,300 lbs. (590 kg) and rear seats that flip down for additional cargo space.

Deere considers Full-Size Crossover XUVs its “biggest and baddest” Gators. The series includes the popular three-passenger XUV835 in gas and diesel options and standard, cab, HVAC, and deluxe cab trims, plus a limited-production Signature Edition. Three-passenger models have the largest enclosed storage area possible, can reach a top speed of 45 mph (72.4 km/h), and have a 2,000-lb. (907-kg) maximum towing capacity. The four-passenger XUV825M S4 (gas) and XUV855M S4 (diesel) have a 1,500-lb (680-kg) towing capacity and can travel at speeds up to 32 and 44 mph (51.5 and 70.8 km/h), respectively.
