The full lineup of Honda Talon 1000 sport utility vehicles is back for 2026, with three 2-seat and three 4-seat configurations suitable for everything from tight woods to fast, open terrain. The big news for 2026 is that the 2-seat Talon 1000R Fox Live Valve and the 4-seat 1000R-4 Fox Live Valve now come standard with 30-inch tires, improving performance in rougher, more technical riding conditions.

Meanwhile, the 2- and 4-seat Talon 1000X and Talon 1000X Fox Live Valve versions continue to roll on 28-inch tires, maintaining their focus on agile handling, precise control, and a narrower footprint on tight trails.

Increased Ground Clearance For Talon 1000R Trims

The 2026 1000R Fox Live Valve variants replace the 28-inch tires found on the X trims with factory-installed 30x9-15 front and 30x10-15 rear tires. The result is greater ground clearance, improved obstacle-rolling capability, enhanced traction, and a smoother ride over uneven terrain.

The 1000R Fox Live Valve models also differ dimensionally from the X trims. Both 1000R versions measure 68.1 in. (173 centimeters) wide vs. 64 in. (163 cm) for the 1000X models. Wheelbase measurements also differ across the lineup. The 2-seat 1000R Fox Live Valve stretches 90 in. (228.6 cm) vs. the 87.6-in. (222.5-cm) wheelbase of the 1000X and 1000X Fox Live Valve. The 4-seat 1000R-4 Fox Live Valve measures 118.7 in. (301.5 cm) vs. the 1000X-4’s 116.4 in. (295.7 cm).

All 2026 Talon trims come standard with Honda’s i-4WD system, which Honda says results in excellent traction and tracking performance in tough off-road conditions with less steer effort and kickback vs. a standard differential lock. (Photo courtesy of Honda.)

    Common Features Across The Lineup

For 2026, all six Talon 1000 variants are available in Pearl Red or Matte Forged Bronze. Power comes from a 999cc liquid-cooled Unicam parallel-twin engine that Honda pairs with a 6-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) with Drive, Sport, Manual, and Manual Low modes.

Suspension packages vary by model; the standard Talon 1000X models use Showa shocks, while all Fox Live Valve trims feature Fox Podium shocks. These use a proprietary control system that adjusts damping automatically in milliseconds to reduce bottoming and improve stability.

The 1000R Fox Live Valve variants also use a double-wishbone front-suspension system with 17.6 in. (44.7 cm) of travel. Rear suspension travel is 21.7 in. (55.1 cm) for the 4-seat trim and 20.1 in. (51.1 cm) for the 2-seat version.
