Polaris Unveils Limited-Edition 70th-Anniversary Snowmobile

Polaris recently announced three limited-edition snowmobiles to celebrate the company’s 70th anniversary and unveiled the first model, the 2025 Patriot 9R Switchback Assault 146 70th Anniversary Edition. The remaining two 70th Anniversary Limited Edition Snowmobiles, which combine iconic 90s sled designs with innovative new features, will be revealed at Hay Days in North Branch, Minnesota, on September 7, 2024.

Started in 1966, Hay Days is named for its famed snowmobile races conducted on hay and is the world's largest snowmobile and ATV event. Attendees will enjoy drag races, a freestyle expo, a swap meet, and an array of vendor booths.

About The Polaris Switchback Assault

The limited-edition Switchback Assault has styling cues inspired by the bestselling XLT from the 1990s, including the XLT’s signature purple and blue over black color scheme. The Indy XLT was considered a game-changer with a high-performance engine and a signature look.

The Switchback Assault features durable, bonded aluminum construction and a powerful 2-stroke Patriot 9R engine. The color-matched front Sentry bumper and signature accent LED light handguards evoke 90s nostalgia. The snowmobile has WER 2-inch (50.8-millimeter) Velocity front IFS and rear track shocks, a WER 2-in. C/A front track shock, and a Matryx front suspension.

Track options include a 15- by 146- by 1.6-in. (381- by 3,708- by 40.6-mm) Cobra or 15- by 146- by 2.0-in. (381- by 3,708- by 50.8-mm) Crossover track. The IGX 146 rear suspension is optimized for better pitch control, and the tipped rail design eases cornering and acceleration.

High-Tech Riding

The 7-in. glove display boasts Polaris’ Ride Command nationwide off-road and snowmobiling mapping system that helps riders plan, track, and share their rides. It also offers onboard diagnostics and sled-to-sled Group Ride technology that lets riders share group ride maps with or without cell coverage.
