Honda Calls New 2025 CRF250RWE The ‘Ultimate Motocross Machine’
Gracing the recently announced 2025 lineup of Honda performance and trail dirt bikes is the all-new CRF250RWE. The manufacturer says the “Works Edition” model is its most advanced 250-cc motocross bike yet, thanks to updates to its lightweight frame, race-tuned suspension, and 249-cc engine.
The CRF250RWE packs scores of enticing premium features and race-worthy upgrades. Honda drew inspiration in creating the bike from factory Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) motorcycles ridden by Team Honda HRC racers Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas.
Ready To Rev
The CRF250RWE draws power from a 249-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), 4-valve engine. Honda enhanced it by adding greater crank rigidity and an optimized intake and exhaust design. The power plant drives a 5-speed gearbox that Honda designed to give riders an excellent gear-shifting feel. The bike’s hydraulically actuated clutch, meanwhile, reduces level-pull forces by 16% compared to the standard CRF250R.
Honda says the CFR250RWE’s Pro-Link rear suspension system’s fully adjustable single Showa shock absorber is ready to withstand jarring impacts and perform well in ruts. The absorber has a titanium oxide-coated 18-millimeter shock shaft, a right-side anodized adjuster cap, and an ultra-light steel shock spring. The front suspension’s 49-mm inverted Showa coil-spring fork has a new compression adjuster that enables toolless settings adjustment.
Premium Features Galore
The CRF250RWE has nearly 20 additional special components over the CRF250R, including Dunlop Geomax MX33 tires wrapped around the 21-inch front and 19-inch black D.I.D. DirtStar LT-X rims. Honda says the tires deliver superior grip, slide control, bump absorption, and durability.
Several premium features contribute to the bike’s sporty aesthetic, including the Throttle Jockey Team Honda HRC graphics and seat cover, D.I.D DM2 gold chain, hand-polished cylinder ports, matte-red metallic cylinder head cover, and gray metallic-coated triple clamps.
The new Yoshimura exhaust system, with its stainless-steel header pipe and titanium muffler with resonator, looks great and boosts power and torque.
Key Electronics
The bike’s Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system monitors rpm spikes and temporarily reduces torque as dictated by its three modes, each designed for use in different riding conditions and to highlight varying rider preferences. Riders can adjust the HSTC with a switch mounted on the Renthal Fatbar handlebar.
Riders can also tap into three HRC Launch Control levels (8,250-, 8,500-, or 9,500-rpm) to match high-traction or slippery track conditions and novice, average, or advanced rider experience levels. The Engine Mode Select Button (EMSB) is in place to select Standard, Smooth, or Aggressive engine maps based on similar criteria.
Look Out For These
Honda’s 2025 dirt bike lineup also includes the premium-level CRF450RWE, CRF450RX, and CRF450R, all providing updates inspired by the factory motorcycles of Team Honda HRC riders Jett and Hunter Lawrence. The CRF450RWE includes the same bodywork, graphics, frame, suspension, and other refinements of the CRF450R and the same premium components as the CRF250RWE.
