Suzuki Gives 2024 GSX-8S A New Engine, GSX-S1000 Gets New Paint
The popular GSX-S1000 and midsize GSX-8S naked streetfighters return to the Suzuki lineup of street motorcycles for 2024. New color choices, numerous styling and design refinements, and an all-new parallel-twin engine for the GSX-8S are among the highlights buyers can expect.
With both bikes, you’ll find a 31.9-inch (810-millimeter)-high water-resistant seat lower than those on the previous-generation GSX-S1000 and comparable GSX-S750 model. The lower seating position contributes to both bikes’ sporty, comfortable riding posture, Suzuki says. The 2024 GSX-8S also gains new graphics and fonts first implemented on the 2022 GSX-S1000. Suzuki says the addition connects the GSX-8S to the GSX-S1000’s naked roadster legacy.
The GSX-8S Shines Like A Pearl
Suzuki developed a brand-new Pearl Cosmic Blue color exclusively for the GSX-8X that has a pearl finish that changes appearance depending on how light strikes it. Alternative color choices include a new Glass Matte Mechanical Grey option that combines black and gray colors and a Metallic Matte Black No. 2 and Glass Sparkle Black option with blue accents. Whichever attractive scheme you opt for, you’ll find an 8S logo below the handlebar, which Suzuki notes resembles the endless loop of the infinity symbol.
Suzuki says the GSX-8S’ lightweight, new-generation 776-cc power plant provides a smooth, torque-rich experience, thanks to 270-degree crankshaft timing and Suzuki-patented Cross Balancer technology. The crankshaft configuration results in an experience like that from the 90-degree V-twin engine in Suzuki’s SV650 street motorcycles but with more power, it says. Also new is the bike’s short muffler design, which has an upswept end cap and produces a unique exhaust note, says Suzuki.
Easier Steering, Longer Rides For The GSX-S1000
The updated GSX-S1000 offers your choice of two color schemes, including a new Metallic Matte Sword Silver option with red accents and the Metallic Triton Blue choice, which is nicely complemented by white accents. Both options have modern-styled Suzuki and GSX-S1000 logos on the fuel tank and side panels, as well as gold accents on the fully adjustable 43-mm inverted KYB forks. Winglets inspired by the company’s MotoGP race bikes also contribute to the bikes’ sporty looks.
Suzuki refined the GSX-S1000’s GSX-R-based, long-stroke, 4-cylinder 999-cc engine to produce broad yet smooth torque delivery across the entire rev range with increased peak horsepower. It also increased the GSX-S1000’s fuel tank capacity by 2 gallons (7.6 liters) over the prior-generation model to 5 gal (19 L). Another alteration is a 0.90-in. (23-mm)-wider matte-black tapered cast-aluminum handlebar, which has a slightly higher grip than before for easier steering.
