2024 Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE & 1050DE Adventure Ready To Take Riders To The Ends Of The Earth
Suzuki’s V-Strom 1050DE and 1050DE Adventure motorcycles are back for 2024, providing solid options for your adventure touring needs. Both bikes have a sleek, aggressive look and feel inspired by Suzuki’s past Dakar Rally and DR Big dual-sport models. Each motorcycle also has wide steel foot pegs and a large-diameter tapered aluminum handlebar as well as a longer rake, wheelbase, and suspension stroke than the standard V-Strom 1050, which Suzuki says means better handling on gravel and dirt and superior bump absorption on rough terrain.
A Powerful Presence
The 2024 1050DE exudes a fierce, muscular, ready-to-pounce presence thanks to its Glass Sparkle Black-Metallic Matte Black color scheme. The Adventure model, meanwhile, has a sportier, race-inspired look with its Pearl Vigor Blue-Pearl Brilliant White scheme. You’ll find a uniquely designed front fender, an aluminum engine protector, and a sturdy accessory bar on both. The Adventure adds 1.3-cubic-foot (37-liter) black aluminum side cases to haul supplies and gear and includes LED fog lights for better illumination of tricky trail conditions.
Both bikes are powered by a 1,037-cc liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin engine that delivers more horsepower with the same torque level and fuel economy, says Suzuki. The bikes also have an updated Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle system, and Suzuki says it recalibrated the grip return force for better feel and control. Another improvement is a 15% increase in the radiator’s cooling capacity over the previous-generation V-Strom 1000. The bikes’ twin-spar aluminum frame is coupled to a new, longer, and more rigid swingarm that supports a new, longer suspension for more ground clearance.
On Display
Suzuki equips the 1050DE models with a special version of its Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) that includes a new Gravel mode within the Suzuki Traction Control System. Suzuki says by allowing for some slip on unpaved surfaces, Gravel mode provides riders with better handling on gravel roads. The SIRS implementation also allows for turning off the rear anti-lock braking system (ABS), resulting in better performance when facing these riding conditions.
Riders can view SIRS settings, access the Gravel mode, turn off ABS, and more on the new-generation 5-inch color, multifunction TFT LCD in the upper fairing above the handlebar. Suzuki says the display is a first for a Suzuki Adventure motorcycle. The scratch-resistant unit has an anti-reflective coating for better visibility in bright light, and riders can manually switch between Day Mode and Night Mode or configure the screen for automatic brightness adjustments. A USB port next to the display is available for charging a smartphone, a GPS unit, and other accessories.
