Style & Performance Updates In Store for 2024 Honda Shadow Phantom Cruiser Motorcycle
The Shadow Phantom has returned to the Honda cruiser motorcycle lineup for 2024 with numerous updates that refresh the appearance of the old-school, bobber-style cruiser. New color variants include Deep Pearl Gray Metallic and Orange Metallic, along with new graphic options. Performance improvements are also on tap, including new linear stopping capability thanks to the addition of a 296-millimeter (11.7-inch) rear disc brake with a single twin-piston hydraulic caliper. Adding the rear disc brake enables Honda to offer a new ABS (anti-lock braking system) variant of the bike, which is 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) heavier than the 543-lb. (245-kg) standard version.
A Modernized Old-Schooler
Honda applies the new paint colors to the gas tank and fenders, causing them to pop in contrast to the blacked-out matte finish of the V-twin engine, rims, frame, headlight cover, single-passenger seat, and 41-mm (1.6-in.) telescopic fork. Several other components assist in the bike’s unique bobber-like, custom feeling. These include new machine-cut fins in the cylinder head, short and minimalist fenders, hidden wiring, and a non-chrome design strategy. Another significant contribution comes from the black spoke wheels and hubs that support the 17-in. (43.1-centimeter) front and 15-in. (38-cm) rear tires.
Customers can also look forward to a more timeless, modern presence from this Shadow Phantom due to its updated fork leg covers, handlebar, and covers. New front and rear LED turn signals also help to create a cleaner, more modern feel compared to the 2023 model. Updated tank-mounted display instruments, wrapped in a blacked-out pod, add another touch of contemporary styling.
The Shadow Phantom In Action
The Shadow Phantom is powered by a traverse-mounted, 4-stroke 745-cc V-twin engine that’s liquid-cooled and includes programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI), which enables good throttle response and fuel efficiency, Honda says. The company also incorporates a three-valve, dual-plug combustion chamber with two intake valves and one exhaust that boosts horsepower and torque.
The telescopic fork has 5.5 in. (14 cm) of travel, while the dual shock rear suspension provides 5-position preload adjustability with 3.6 in. (9.1 cm) of travel. The low seat provides ease when flat-footing at stoplights and in parking lots. The 25.6 in. (65 cm) seat provides better comfort during long rides, Honda says. Customers who want to bring a companion along on rides can opt for a passenger seat and footpegs. The bike’s two-tone gas tank holds 3.9 gallons (14.7 liters) of fuel.
