Honda 2024 ADV160 Adventure Scooter Gets New Engine & Other Upgrades
A more powerful engine that produces fewer emissions tops the list of upgrades to the Honda ADV160 scooter for 2024, which replaces the ADV150 first introduced in the U.S. for the 2021 model year. The ADV160’s larger 4-valve 157-cc eSP+ engine is an 8-cc enhancement over its predecessor’s 2-valve power plant and makes the ADV160 freeway-legal in most states, Honda says. Available in Red Metallic or Pearl Smokey Gray, the ADV160 also now includes Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which helps maintain a good grip when traction is at a premium.
All-Around Performance
The ADV160’s liquid-cooled engine is the same one Honda debuted in its PCX adventure model. Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) makes for easy starts even in inclement weather and contributes to outstanding performance, whether riding in the city or escaping for short adventures. Honda says the scooter gets 134 miles per gallon, so its 2.1-gallon (7.9-liter) fuel tank gives you plenty of riding between fill-ups.
The scooter has a durable duplex-cradle steel-tube chassis with a 31-millimeter telescopic Showa fork with what Honda refers to as a class-leading 5.1 inches (130 millimeters) of travel. The rear suspension’s dual piggyback Showa shocks have 4.1 in. (104 mm) of travel and triple-rate springs; they contribute to quality handling on rough terrain or with a passenger on board. Reliable braking performance is also on tap due to an upfront anti-lock braking system (ABS). All-LED lighting reduces the scooter’s weight, size, and energy consumption.
Comfort & Confidence
Honda mounts the engine, fuel tank, and drivetrain low on the frame for a low center of gravity that results in greater driving confidence in heavy traffic or busy parking lots. The manufacturer also located the reshaped seat 0.6 in. (15 mm) lower for better stability when stopped. A lowered, tapered handlebar and narrowed bodywork add up to a more comfortable riding position, and the ADV160’s taller, adjustable windshield provides more protection from wind and weather.
Twist & Go Convenience
An automatic, continuously variable V-Matic transmission makes the ADV160 a breeze to ride—just start the engine, twist the throttle, and you’re off, with no shifting needed. Honda’s Smart Key system lets you start the scooter without taking the key out of your pocket, makes the bike easier to locate, and provides anti-theft protection by locking the handlebar.
The 2024 model also boasts a new digital instrument cluster that makes it easier to assess your speed, mileage, and other data at a glance.
Wherever you’re going, you’ll have plenty of storage space for your items thanks to the scooter’s 0.95-cubic-foot (27-liter) weather-resistant under-seat storage, which Honda provides ample room for a full-face helmet. The ADV160 also has a handy 0.07-cu ft (2-L) compartment up front with a 12-volt charging port.
