Triumph Street Triple 765 Lineup Gains Power, Improved Responsiveness & Other Upgrades For 2023
Triumph has introduced engine upgrades, increased torque, better responsiveness, styling enhancements, and other improvements to its three-model Street Triple 765 family of naked sport bikes for 2023. The manufacturer says the improvements create the lineup’s “most powerful and poised” version ever. The Street Triple’s 765-cc liquid-cooled, 12-valve, three-cylinder engine is now rated for 121.7 horsepower (89.5 kilowatts) at 11,500 rpm for the 765 R and 131.8 HP (96.9 kW) at 12,000 rpm for the 765 RS and the limited-run 765 Moto2 Edition. Torque peaks at 59 pounds-foot (80 newton-meters) at 9,500 rpm for all 765s.
Moto2 Inspired
Triumph says this year’s engine upgrades come directly from the Moto2 race engine development program. In addition to a 4.7% (12.65:1 to 13.25:1) increase to the compression ratio, the company matched new pistons, con-rods, and gudgeon pins to new, optimized combustion chambers to bump up the cylinder pressure limit and generate greater power. It also added new valves and camshafts for improved intake, combustion, and exhaust efficiency, and revised the six-speed gearbox with shorter gear ratios to produce faster acceleration and more.
Street Triple 765 R
Combine the aforementioned upgrades with a more commanding riding position, aggressive new style, and advanced rider electronics, and you get the “new definitive streetfighter,” Triumph says. Available in Silver Ice and Crystal White paint colors, the bike has new handlebars that are 0.47-inches (1.2-centimeters) wider and an all-new 3.9-gallon (14.7-liter) fuel tank. The silencer, radiator cowls, headlight finisher, and rear bodywork are also updated. New Switchable Optimized Cornering Traction Control continuously calculates the lean angle to pinpoint the ideal slip rate and torque control. Additionally, riders can set four independently adjustable levels of intervention to match their riding style and current conditions.
Street Triple 765 RS
Carnival Red, Silver Ice, and Cosmic Yellow paint colors are available for 765 RS, which also has new 0.47-in.-wider handlebars, plus a steeper rake and raised back end for more precise handling, faster turning, and a more commanding riding position. Also new are Brembo Stylema brakes with four-piston radial monoblock calipers that are matched to 12.2-in. (310-millimeter) discs. Riders will also appreciate such race-spec features as a Triumph Shift Assist up-and-down shifter, front-wheel lift control, and high-performance Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 tires.
Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition
Triumph says it will limit production of the 765 Moto2 Edition to just 765 units in each of its color options (Triumph Racing Yellow and Crystal White). The British manufacturer also says the bike is the highest-specification Street Triple ever and “the closest you can get to a Moto2 bike for the road.” The Moto2 includes exclusive carbon-fiber bodywork, official Moto2 branding, a special Moto2 startup screen, and an individually numbered top yoke mark. There’s also an Öhlins fully adjustable 43-mm upside down front fork, Öhlins piggyback reservoir rear shock, and new clip-on bars set 3.14 in. (8 cm) lower and 1.98 in. (5 cm) further forward than those of the RS.
