Indian Motorcycle Introduces 4-Model 2023 FTR Lineup
Indian Motorcycle is updating its FTR lineup for 2023, replacing the FTR S with the FTR Sport that adds new aesthetics and performance components to create a more distinct trim below the flagship FTR R Carbon. Just a few of these enhancements include a number plate, chin fairing, and seat cowl. Both the FTR Sport and the FTR R Carbon have also been upgraded to a 4-inch (10-centimeter) round touchscreen display with Ride Command navigation and route planning.
“Fully loaded with models and styles for the widest range of riders, the 2023 lineup is a powerful testament to our team’s relentless effort to build and refine a truly comprehensive product offering over the past nine years,” says Indian Motorcycle President Mike Dougherty. “This effort has been focused across the line and within each model lineup, as evidenced by the introduction of the FTR Sport—the addition of which creates four unique FTR offerings, each with its own style and personality.”
FTR Sport Specs
Similar to other models in the 2023 FTR lineup, the FTR Sport is equipped with a 1,203-cc, liquid-cooled V-twin producing 120 horsepower (89.5 kilowatts) and 87 pounds-foot (117 newton-meters) of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The 17-inch wheels, which include Brembo brakes, have Metzeler Sportec M9 RR tires and enhance the FTR Sport’s muscular style, while the number plate and seat cowl exude a sporty look. Indian also includes its Lean Angle Sensitive Stability Control and ABS to improve handling. Riders can select from Sport, Standard, and Rain ride modes to quickly adjust the FTR Sport to riding conditions.
2023 FTR Series
The rest of the FTR lineup include the FTR, FTR Rally, and the FTR R Carbon, so named for its carbon-fiber components. The FTR R Carbon is also equipped with adjustable Öhlins gold front forks and a gold piggyback shock. All 2023 models feature a new sport exhaust muffler, and Indian says it retuned the front braking system to give riders a firmer feel.
