Honda Makes A Visual Statement With The XR650L Dual-Sport’s New Appearance
Honda has made some aesthetic updates for the 2022 model year of its venerable XR650L. The beloved 644-cc, on- and off-road bike features new XR graphics on its fuel tank and white-on-white bodywork. Its black rims match its motocross seat, tool bag, and fork gaiters. The XR650L will show off its new colors in April 2022.
The Honda XR650L
Shod in dual-purpose tires for both street and trail, the XR650L has a rugged steel frame and an electric push-button starter. Its long-travel suspension offers 11.6 and 11 inches (295 and 279 millimeters) of respective front and rear range of motion. The fully street-legal bike features turn signals, side mirrors, a speedometer, and a light for the license plate. A grab strap and extra foot pegs allow for two-up riding with a passenger.
The XR650L’s single-cylinder engine is a four-stroke, air-cooled unit using Honda’s patented Radial Four-Valve Combustion Chamber for efficiency and power. The motor is fed by a 42.5-mm (1.67-in.), constant-velocity carburetor. A five-speed transmission, multi-plate clutch, and an O-ring-sealed #520 chain final drive turn the motivation into action.
The bike has a 21-in (533-mm) front wheel and an 18-in (457-mm) rear wheel with a quick-detach setup. Its air-adjustable Showa front cartridge fork is a 43-mm (1.7-in) unit with 16 compression-damping positions. A Pro-Link Showa single shock supports the rear of the motorcycle. The Pro-Link has adjustable spring preload, as well as 20 positions each of compression- and rebound-damping levels. Single disc brake rotors measure 256 mm (10.1 in) to the fore and 220 mm (8.7 in) aft; the front caliper has a twin-piston design.
The XR650L has a wheelbase of 57.3 in. (1,455 mm) and a seat height of 37 in. (940 mm). The bike weighs 346 pounds (157 kilograms) ready to ride.
