Harley-Davison Freewheeler Trike Gets Updated Look & More For 2022
Harley-Davidson recently unveiled some updates to the Freewheeler trike for 2022, including a new tank medallion, a new optional two-tone paint scheme, and all-new braking enhancements. The Freewheeler joins the Tri Glide Ultra and new super-premium Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) Tri Glide in the Motor Company’s trike lineup. Built for new and veteran riders alike, the cruiser-inspired Freewheeler offers what Harley-Davidson describes as “hot rod attitude on three wheels” by way of its 12-inch (30.48-centimeter) mini ape hanger handlebar, bobtail fenders, chrome Hiawatha headlamp, Enforcer cast-aluminum wheels, and slash cut exhaust pipes.
The Power Of Three
For 2022, the Freewheeler presents a new chrome and gloss black tank medallion designed in a classic V shape. There’s also the new optional two-tone Midnight Crimson and Vivid Black paint scheme, which joins previous Vivid Black and Reef Blue schemes. The bike’s all-new braking enhancements include Reflex linked Brembo brakes with a standard anti-locking braking system (ABS) that functions independently on the front and rear brakes. Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements included are designed to help riders maintain an intended path through curves. These technologies include Cornering Electronically Linked Brakes, Cornering-ABS, Cornering-Traction Control, Drag Torque Slip Control, Vehicle Hold Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring.
The Freewheeler is powered by Harley’s Milwaukee-Eight 114 V-Twin engine and rides on a suspension that includes a 49-mm dual bending valve front fork and a hand-adjustable emulsion rear suspension that’s calibrated specifically for trikes. Harley-Davidson redesigned the brake rotors up front to showcase more of the wheel’s premium custom appearance. Also in store is a seven-piece classic-style nacelle chrome headlight that’s situated tightly against the frame and forks, and accommodates a windshield mounting system.
Stow It
The Freewheeler has a 65.7-in. (166.9-cm) wheelbase, measures 103 in. (261.6 cm) long, has a 26.2-in. (66.5-cm) seat height, weighs 1,085 pounds (492 kilograms), and has a 6-gallon (22.7-liter) fuel tank. The bike boasts up 2 cubic feet (0.06 cubic meters) of luggage capacity thanks to its trunk, which uniquely opens from left to right with one hand and provides space enough to store two full-face helmets and additional gear.
