Harley-Davidson Announces New Wheels For 2022 Softail Standard Cruiser
Harley-Davidson recently announced its motorcycle lineup for the 2022 model year, including the Softail Standard. The Softail has been a favorite of riders since its creation in 1984 and the latest iteration will likely be no exception. Part of the Cruiser segment of Harley-Davidson’s lineup, the 2022 Softail Standard has a stripped-down bobber style to allow for customization and now features Annihilator cast-aluminum wheels with silver finish rather than its previous laced wheels.
About The Softail Standard
The Softail Standard is equipped with a Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection and a six-speed Cruise Drive transmission. The 87-horsepower (65-kilowatt) bike gets approximately 47 miles per gallon and has hidden, free piston, coil-over monoshock in the rear. Its tubular mild-steel frame has a rectangular backbone section; stamped, cast, and forged junctions; and aluminum-forged fender supports. The MIG-welded swingarm also has mild-steel tubular sections with a stamped x-member, forged axle junctions, and a removable belt spacer. The high-performance front suspension has a 49-mm telescopic dual-bending valve with aluminum fork triple clamps that provides the performance of a racing-style cartridge fork for reduced weight along with linear damping characteristics.
The Softail’s LCD display has a 2.14-inch viewable area where riders can check the speedometer, gear indicator, odometer, fuel level, clock, trip range, and tachometer indication. The Softail Standard has classic Vivid Black paint highlighted with gleaming chrome and polished finishes.
