Polaris Beefs Up Pro XD UTVs For 2022 With New Heavy-Duty Components
Polaris is making numerous heavy-duty components available beginning in January for its 2022 model year Polaris Pro XD utility terrain vehicles (UTVs). Based on customer feedback, the components are designed to enhance vehicle uptime and productivity. They include extended-life brake pads, a heavy-duty oil filter, left- and right-hand side mirrors, new USB charging ports, and an all-new onboard starting battery charging port (BIIT port). Drivers can also dial in an optimal drive mode via selectable AWD, 2WD, and VersaTrac Turf modes. The brake pads, oil filter, and side mirrors are also available for previous years’ Pro XD UTVs.
“The Polaris Pro XD is designed specifically for durability, serviceability, and safety, and we want to ensure the vehicle is always providing the greatest value for our customers,” says Aaron Stegemann, Polaris vice president of commercial utility vehicles. “We are constantly listening to how customers use the Pro XD. By doing so, we can thoughtfully expand vehicle capabilities that continue to make the Pro XD the most capable and preferred work UTV.”
The Pro XD Family
The Pro XD lineup includes Full-Size and Mid-Size models designed for use in construction and industrial, railroad, energy and solar, mining and pipeline, parks and recreation, nursery and landscaping, manufacturing and warehouse, and other sectors. Both can seat two to four passengers. The Full-Size variant comes in gas and diesel versions and has a 1,900-pound (862-kilogram) payload, a 2,075-lb (941-kg crew capacity, and a 1,250-lb (567-kg) box capacity. The Mid-Size variant is available with a gas engine and has a 1,000-lb (453-kg) payload, a 1,225-lb. (555-kg) crew capacity, and a 500-lb (227-kg) box capacity.
Both models include such safety features as adjustable speed calibration, operator warnings, a backup horn, and pedestrian alarms. Extra-durable components include heavy-duty wheel bearings, driveshafts, puncture-resistant Kevlar-backed vinyl seats, and eight-ply tires.
Going Heavy Duty
Both Pro XDs now come with USB ports in the dash and include the all-new BIIT port, which lets operators plug in a trickle charger so that the vehicle battery will be charged and ready to go even if the UTV sits idle for an extended period of time. All new Pro XD Full-Size models will come standard with Polaris’ On-Demand selectable drive mode, which lets operators choose the appropriate drive mode for driving in loose gravel, snow, ice, or other conditions.
Offered as an option, the extended-life brake pads require 30% less pedal effort, and provide up to two times the longevity of traditional pads thanks to increased density, higher friction capacity, and added noise insulator. The heavy-duty oil filter is included with the Pro XD Full-Size gas variant and is constructed using an advanced synthetic material and a steel center tube. The new fully adjustable side mirrors are available for all models, and can be poly-door or ROPS (rollover protection structure)-mounted.
