Polaris Introduces All-New RZR Pro R—Its Most Powerful & Advanced Side-By-Side Ever

Earlier this week, Polaris took the wraps off of its new RZR Pro R and four-seat RZR Pro R 4 off-road side-by-sides. The manufacturer says they redefine the wide-open category.

“The unparalleled engine, chassis, and suspension package on the RZR Pro R is arguably that of a Baja race title contender, straight from the factory,” says Polaris RZR Vice President Reid Wilson. “There’s nothing even close to it on the market today. To replicate its strength and dynamic suspension on any other factory machine would cost thousands of dollars in aftermarket parts and service.”

Off-Road Power

Polaris says the RZR Pro R is the most powerful, most advanced side-by-side it has ever developed. The power comes from a naturally aspirated ProStar Fury 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine rated for an impressive 225 horsepower (167 kilowatts). The engine is the most powerful ever equipped in a stock side-by-side, Polaris says. Sport, Rock, and Race user-selected throttle control modes are provided to let drivers adjust throttle sensitivity to their liking.

The Pro R raises the bar in strength, as well, Polaris says, by virtue of a dramatically upgraded suspension and a one-piece chassis that’s paired with a fully welded roll cage, strengthened unitized hubs, “massive” boxed steel A-arms, and enhanced driveline shafts and knuckles. Also included is Dual Path Clutch Cooling that’s designed to lengthen belt life, and a new torque limiter that safeguards the front drive from power surges.

Take Control

The RZR Pro R’s industry-leading 74-inch (188-centimeter)-wide stance and MaxLink 29-in. (74-cm) suspension with rear toe link give drivers impeccable control, even on the harshest terrain. An all-new Dynamix DV system provides the industry’s first and only independent compression and rebound suspension system; it provides four suspension and steering modes (Baja, Rock, Track, and Comfort) and acquires driver- and machine-related data 200 times per second to automatically, independently adjust compression and rebound damping.

Drivers can monitor suspension and ride settings, plus access entertainment features, GPS and route tracking, and more, on the glove-touch-capable 7-inch RIDE COMMAND screen. The interior also boasts a Rockford Fosgate audio system, fold-flat storage, and four-way adjustable bucket seats, and multipoint harnesses.

Accessorize It

Polaris offers more than 70 accessories for the RZR Pro R, including many from leading aftermarket brands, and has arranged them into Desert, Dune, and Rugged Trail collections. The manufacturer has also introduced Pro Armor five-lug wheels paired with 32- or 33-inch tires for the Pro R and Pro R 4 (an industry-first inclusion), and says Pro Armor will launch an entire suite of aftermarket accessories featuring cages, roofs, windshields, and storage.
