Honda Announces Updates & More For 2021 PCX Scooter

    Posted On: February 18, 2021

Honda recently introduced the 2021 PCX scooter for March availability, featuring a new engine and chassis design. Previously known as the PCX150, the scooter is available in standard and ABS trims. (Photo courtesy of Honda.)

Complete with the assurance that Honda takes its “scooters as seriously as everything else” it builds, American Honda introduced three small-displacement scooters and one sport bike this week for 2021 and 2022 availability. Headlining the stable is the 2021 PCX scooter, which will be available in March. Previously known as the PCX150, it offers a fetching pearl-white color scheme, a redesigned chassis that’s lighter and provides improved cornering performance, all-LED lighting, and an 8-gallon (30-liter) flip-open seat storage compartment. Also new is the scooter’s four-valve 156.9-cc liquid-cooled 80-degree single-cylinder engine with eSP+ (enhanced smart power) technology and 2.4- x 2.2-inch (60- x 55.5-millimeter) bore/stroke ratio.

    The PCX In 2021

Honda introduced the PCX to U.S. riders in 2009 as the PCX125. The 2021 PCX comes in standard or ABS (anti-lock braking system) trims, with the latter enabling stops in “less-than-ideal conditions,” Honda says. Both weigh 288 pounds (130.6 kilograms) and include the new engine, which provides freeway capability and which the manufacturer says operates cleaner and more economically than its predecessor. Honda Selectable Torque Control, fully transistorized ignition, an Automatic V-Matic belt-drive transmission, and a 2.1-gallon (8-liter) fuel capacity are included. The new lockable and weather-resistant storage compartment, meanwhile, has space enough to store a full-face helmet.

Among other features, Honda’s 2021 PCX scooter includes a lockable, weather-resistant 8-gallon flip-open storage compartment under the seat that can a full-faced helmet or an evening’s worth of groceries, Honda says. (Photo courtesy of Honda.)

The PCX’s front suspension features a 1.2-in. (31-mm) telescopic fork and 3.94 in. (100.1 mm) of travel. The rear suspension has twin shocks and 3.72 in. (94.5 mm) of travel. Honda says the new chassis design offers an improved riding experience across various riding situations, including city travel, highway commuting, and suburban touring. Owners can share the experience thanks to the long, padded seat’s stepped passenger section. “While it’s still the ultimate tool for tackling urban environments in style, it has evolved to a new level of comfort, as well,” Honda says of the scooter’s riding performance.
