Harley-Davidson Showcases Shiny New 2021 Fat Boy 114 Cruiser
Harley-Davidson’s 2021 Fat Boy 114 cruiser has been restyled with a bit more flash. Bright chrome now takes the place of last year’s satin chrome finish on the front end, powertrain, exhaust, rear fender struts, and console. Its wide, Softail demeanor is belied by a lightweight, stiff frame that feels responsive on the road.
Sculpted Features
The heart of this imposing Fat Boy is a 114-cubic-inch (1,868-cc) Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine with 119 pound-force feet (161 newton-meters) of torque at 3,000 rpm. Fed by electronic sequential port fuel injection, the smooth-running motor features a brisk throttle response. A 2-into-2 staggered exhaust and catalyst-equipped muffler attenuate its thunder into an unmistakable rumble.
The Fat Boy 114 uses a six-speed transmission and a chain drive to motivate its broad, 240-millimeter (9.4-inch) wide rear tire with authority. The bike’s 160-mm (6.3-in.) front tire, meanwhile, is the widest the iconic brand has ever offered from the factory. Lakester solid-disc cast aluminum wheels wear the rubber with style. The front wheel has a four-piston fixed brake caliper while the rear carries a two-piston floating caliper.
A racing-style cartridge front fork provides this Fat Boy with linear damping in a lightweight design. The cycle’s rear suspension depends on an adjustable mono-shock that provides excellent cornering, according to Harley. An LED headlamp with a square housing illuminates the road ahead. Finish color options for the 2021 Fat Boy 114 include Vivid Black, Black Jack Metallic, Deadwood Green, and Gauntlet Gray Metallic/Vivid Black.
Svelte Specifications
Despite its beefy name, the curb weight of this year’s Fat Boy is just 699 pounds (317 kilograms). The bike has a 65.6-inch (1,666-mm) wheelbase, a 25.9-inch (658-mm) laden seat height, and a 5-gallon (18.9-liter) fuel tank. Under ideal road conditions, it can eke out mileage of 47 miles per gallon (20 kilometers per liter).
