Polaris Announces Pro XD Firefighting & Rescue UTVs With Diesel Engine & Enhanced Payload

Polaris has introduced new firefighting and rescue utility task vehicle (UTV) configurations for its Polaris Pro XD model available as turn-key solutions for fire departments. Developed by the Polaris Government and Defense division, the UTVs enhance firefighter and rescue personnel’s abilities and can access environments and conditions traditional vehicles can’t for improved response times. Configurations include a firefighting UTV, a rescue-only model, and a combination fire and rescue unit. Polaris offers its fire and rescue vehicles with government discount pricing and various support and maintenance options. It also has a grant assistance program available for state and local governments and educational customers.

The Pro XD Up Close

Polaris offers Pro XD 2000 and 4000 models with two- and four-seat, 2WD and AWD, and gas (26 mph; 41.8 km/h top speed) and diesel (40 mph; 64.4 km/h) options supporting up to 2,075-pound (941-kilogram) payloads and 2,500-lb (1,134-kg) towing capacities. Features include heavy-duty driveline components, up to 200-hour maintenance intervals, puncture-resistant Kevlar-backed vinyl seats, all-new tires with enhanced life, and safety components (horn, reverse beeper, vehicle fault alarms, etc.). Accessory package options include Work, Work Package With Cab, Base, and Deluxe.

UTV First Responders

The Pro XD firefighting UTV configuration can draft from an external water source and includes a 95-gallon (360-liter) water with 5-gallon (19-L) integral foam co-poly tank, a foam fire suppression system, a professional fire pump, and a hose and reel. The rescue skid model features a rear attendant seat and a stokes rescue basket. The combination fire and rescue skid configuration comes with a fire tank and a stokes rescue basket. All configurations include options to add emergency lighting, a public address system, and custom graphics. RKO Enterprises develops the fire and rescue skids based on firefighter input. It also factory-installs the fire and rescue equipment, which departments can remove as needed in order to repurpose the UTV.
