Bobcat Shows Off New UV34 & UV34XL Diesel Utility Vehicles
Two new utility vehicles from Bobcat feature diesel power and durability. The three-person UV34 and six-person UV34XL come with a more rugged chassis, a suspension with a greater range of motion, enhanced rider comfort, better towing capacity, big cargo space, and more integrated accessories, the Doosan-owned manufacturer says.
Ruggedness
Besides the beefier frame, the new UV34 and UV34XL come with stronger suspension components, drive components, wheel hubs, and wheel bearings for longer service life. Toward the same goal, a heavy-duty clutch reduces slippage with better belt engagement.
Off-road performance gets a boost from the pair’s added ground clearance, while their longer suspension travel and additional seat padding improve the ride quality for the driver. A new, independent rear sway-bar suspension joins new shocks and springs in the UV34 duo’s handling package.
Bobcat made all four tires the same size, and points out that this way you won’t need to have different-sized spares lying around. The tires are also non-directional, so you won’t have to worry about orienting their treads in a frontward direction.
Comfort & Capacity
Whether one person, three, or six are riding, the new UV34 series is easy to board and exit because of its low, wide cab opening. Bobcat made its dashboard gauges easier to see and understand, as well.
As for cargo space, the new UTVs get a one-piece composite cargo box with 15.6 cubic feet (0.44 cubic meters) of volume. The payload capacity of the box bed is 1,250 pounds (567 kilograms). There’s an optional powered lift to empty the cargo box, by the way.
Diesel Power
The Bobcat UV34 and UV34XL share most drivetrain specifications, despite the six-seater model’s extra length. Both get their power from a 23.5-horsepower (17.5-kilowatt), liquid-cooled MY19 diesel engine with Tier 4 emissions standards compliance and a 55-cubic inch (900-cubic centimeter) displacement. It’s a proven motor that Bobcat installs in its mini track loaders, the company says.
The two new UTVs each have a 2,000-pound (907-kilogram) towing capacity. They’re strong enough to pull a boat on a trailer, the manufacturer says, as well as landscaping materials, firewood, and the like. Maximum travel speed for the pair is 35 mph (56 km/h), but an optional kit can reduce that to 25 or 15 mph (40 or 24 km/h) if you need to limit their top speed a bit more.
The two Bobcats differ in their total vehicle rated capacities. The UV34 has a 1,900-pound (862-kilogram) rating, while the longer UV34XL is rated at 2,075 pounds (941 kilograms).
Options include an enclosed cab, a heater, wipers/washers, a radio, a brush guard, and front and rear LED work lights.
