Honda Releases Second Update For 2018 & Newer Gold Wing Motorcycles
Honda just released the latest navigation update for 2018 and 2019 model year Gold Wing motorcycles. A previous update, released in October, fixed a daylight savings time date change issue and made it possible to “retain functions after the ignition is switched off and back on again,” according to Honda. The company also offers free map upgrades for 2018 and 2019 Gold Wings, and they are available for purchase for owners of 2017 and older models.
January 2019 Update
The newest navigation update adds the capability to place 99 waypoints along a route, provides a better connection between iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR smartphones with the dashboard, and “prevents the XM source from switching in low-signal-strength areas,” Honda says. Owners of 2019 models already have the first update installed, but owners of 2018 models can now download and install either update by following the instructions available on Honda’s website. You can also sign up for notifications if you’d like to know right away when new updates are available in the future.
Installation Process
Honda has a dedicated page with detailed instructions on how to install updates on your Gold Wing’s navigation system. You need a formatted USB 2.0 or higher USB drive with at least 16 GB of capacity. You can then download the update file to the drive, connect it to your motorcycle, change the ignition switch to ACC, and follow the prompts to finish the installation process.
You’ll find hundreds of new and used Honda motorcycles for sale every day on MotorSportsUniverse.com, including a huge selection of Honda Gold Wing models.
