InMotion Ventures Provides Funding For Arc Vector
Arc has a global ambition to make its fully electric Vector motorcycle the “cleanest, safest, and most fulfilling motorcycle on the road.” InMotion Ventures—a venture capital fund owned by England-based automobile manufacture Jaguar Land Rover that “invests in and invents businesses in the mobility, transportation, and travel sector”—is helping with funding to support the “world’s first fully electric motorcycle with a Human Machine Interface (HMI).”
Supremely Nuanced
Arc revealed the Vector at the Milan Motorcycle Show on Nov. 6 and showed off its “groundbreaking intelligent haptic ride-wear and connected Heads-Up Display helmet.” Developed in conjunction with Hedon, the Arc Zenith helmet is described as being similar to a fighter pilot system. The helmet contains a rear camera that’s displayed on the projection-based HUD and that “kicks in automatically when detecting anything in your blind spot.” Riders can activate different modes via a controller on the bike or by voice commands.
The Arc Pilot system, meanwhile, incorporates audio-powered haptics into an armored shirt in locations where the body is most sensitive, enabling “delivery of a supremely nuanced sensory input and a genuinely transformational riding experience,” Arc states. Other Vector features include rear and front custom Ohlins dampers, optimized carbon fiber swing arms, a CCS DC charger, advanced intelligent LED lighting, and a Brembo brake system. Arc says the bike can get 120 miles on the highway and 170 miles in urban settings, travel from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, and support a top speed of 150 mph.
A New Two-Wheeled Experience
Mark Truman, a former Jaguar engineer, founded Arc and serves as its CEO. Truman says Arc’s aim is to “bring technology, performance, and safety together to create an entirely new two-wheeled experience.” Rather than being “just a motorbike,” he says, the Vector is “the world’s first fully electric café racer, it’s an innovative heads-up display helmet, and it’s a sensory riding suit” that combines to form “an experience package like no other.”
