Harley-Davidson Eyes The Road Ahead
Harley-Davidson recently laid out its plans for the future leading up to and through 2022. The plan, which Harley calls “More Roads to Harley-Davidson,” primarily focuses on introducing new motorcycles and other products to the market, developing a broader range of retail experiences to engage buyers in new ways, and improving the overall customer experience by empowering and strengthening dealers. The ultimate goal is to expand the company’s rider base to include new types of customers.
“The bold actions we are announcing today leverage Harley-Davidson’s vast capabilities and competitive firepower – our excellence in product development and manufacturing, the global appeal of the brand and of course, our great dealer network,” says Harley-Davidson President and CEO Matt Levatich. “Alongside our existing loyal riders, we will lead the next revolution of two-wheeled freedom to inspire future riders who have yet to even think about the thrill of riding.”
Future Models
Harley-Davidson will introduce new motorcycles in the 500 to 1,250cc range, including the Pan America 1250 and the 975cc Streetfighter in 2020, with more to follow through 2022. The company will also work with a manufacturer in Asia to build 250 to 500cc motorcycles for a global audience. The company plans to release its LiveWire electric motorcycle next year and will introduce new electric models designed to be lightweight, compact, and more accessible in the three years following.
More Ways To Buy
Harley-Davidson wants to fully embrace the modern ecommerce age; the company will work with ecommerce experts to create a more cohesive online presence, and will build new types of retail locations in addition to current dealerships to attract customers new to the brand. Harley-Davidson also plans to strengthen dealers financially and work with them to ensure a consistent customer experience.
