Toro recently announced that it has added some new available options to its Workman GTX lineup of utility vehicles, including a new electronic fuel injection (EFI) model and numerous new attachments. All of the new options add up to more than 300 possible configurations, giving superintendents and grounds managers more ability to configure the vehicle to suit their specific needs.

    Closed-Loop Benefits

The Workman GTX is available with a 429 cc Kohler gas engine, 429 cc Kohler EFI gas engine, or as a 48-volt A/C electric-powered version. Integrating a closed-loop EFI system, the new EFI model eliminates a choke and instead “continually adjusts the engine calibration” to match weather conditions and altitude, as well as a fuel’s type, quality, and grade. An oxygen sensor the system uses produces continuous feedback concerning combustion quality, so the system always delivers the right fuel amount and continually looks to optimize performance.

The new Toro Workman GTX EFI model features a closed-loop electronic fuel injection system that eliminates the choke and continually calibrates itself based on weather, altitude, and fuel quality to provide optimal performance and no-hassle starts. (Photo courtesy of Toro.)

“Being able to provide optimum performance regardless of weather conditions and altitude is a significant advantage, especially in areas with higher elevations or colder climates,” says Andrew Ihrke, Toro product marketing associate. “ . . . there’s now no need to feather the choke to get the engine moving on cold mornings and crews are able to just start it up and get their day started.”

    Take A Seat

Attachment options announced for the Workman GTX include new flatbed solid side kits, fold-down side kits, and fold-down rear-facing seats. The flatbed solid side and fold-down side kits aim to help contain materials on the 6-foot (1.8-meter) flatbed. The solid side kit includes a rear foldable tailgate with lanyards and steel sides, while the fold-down side kit enables use of the flatbed for items too large to fit within the sides. Toro says that any existing GTX 6-foot flatbed can accept each kit without modifications.

The fold-down, rear-facing seat option, meanwhile, replaces the cargo bed to open the vehicle up for two additional passengers. The option is compatible with standard and extended GTX models, transforming them from two- or four-passenger configurations to four- or six-passenger configurations, respectively.
