Honda Brings Back Fury Cruiser With Chopper Styling For 2023
Honda is returning its Fury cruiser for 2023 complete with several compelling reasons why riders should opt for the “Wild Child.” One is the Fury’s bold appearance, which includes its fetching Pearl Yellow paint job. Another is the bike’s fuel-injected 1,312-cc, 52-degree V-twin engine with single-pin crankshaft and dual balancers. Also on tap is a high-tensile steel frame that Honda says both serves as the centerpiece of the bike’s open, minimalist chopper styling and helps to deliver a smooth ride experience and responsive handling. Additional handling benefits come from anti-lock braking system (ABS), which comes standard for 2023.
A Chopper At Heart
Honda says the Fury is an alternative for riders who have tired of custom choppers that don’t handle well, cost too much, and don’t run right. In fact, it says the Fury is one of the most authentic, radically custom-styled bikes it has ever produced. Honda singles out the Fury’s seamless teardrop fuel tank, “ingenious” single-shock rear suspension system with adjustable rebound damping, and aluminum swingarm as top features. The manufacturer also points to the motorcycle’s hardtail-style rear frame, raked-out front end, and 71-inch (1,803-millimeter) wheelbase, noting that they combine to create a “long, low, lean” look.
That’s not all there is to appreciate about the Fury, which Honda boasts is a “rolling work of art.” The seat’s low 26.9-in. (683.3-mm) height is another vital design element when taken together with the long, slim flow of the fuel tank. The Fury’s fat rear tire, slim front tire, and alloy wheels also contribute to its dramatic style. The engine’s specially designed camshafts, meanwhile, are key to the power plant’s sound and “power-pulse exhaust sensations,” Honda notes.
The Fury Up Close
The Fury is equipped with an electric starter, a five-speed transmission, and a multiplate wet clutch. Its 45-mm telescopic front fork has 4 in. (102 mm) of travel, while the aforementioned rear suspension has 3.7 in. (94 mm) of travel. The braking system includes a single dual-position hydraulic caliper with 336-mm disc at front and single one-piston hydraulic caliper with 296-mm disc at back. The bike has 4.9 in. (124.5 mm) of ground clearance, a fuel capacity of 3.4 gallons (12.9 liters), and a curb weight of 681 pounds (309 kilograms).
