Harley-Davidson’s Newest Road King Models Blend Classic Styling & Modern Performance

The Road King has earned a special place among Harley-Davidson’s Grand American Touring bikes with its neo-classic style featuring the Hiawatha headlamp, one-touch saddlebags, and chrome details that hark back to the motorcycles of the 1960s. For 2022, Harley-Davidson is offering the Road King and the Road King Special—a bagger with a custom hot rod appearance in Vivid Black, Midnight Crimson, or Mineral Green Denim.

Technology For Touring

Similar to other models in Harley-Davidson’s 2022 Grand American Touring lineup, the Road King series delivers a smooth ride with hydraulically adjustable rear shock absorbers and a dual bending-valve suspension. A single knob adjusts the pre-load on the emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers. Both 2022 Road King models are equipped with Reflex linked Brembo brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS). An optional Cornering Ride Safety Enhancement package includes electronically linked brakes, cornering ABS, cornering traction control with standard and rain modes, drag torque slip control, vehicle hold control, and a tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).

Road King

The 2022 Road King features the classic Hiawatha headlamp and nacelle, defining characteristics of this model, and cast-aluminum Slicer II wheels. The bike’s Milwaukee-Eight 107 power plant is equipped with electronic sequential port fuel injection (ESPFI) and produces 111 pounds-foot (150 newton-meters) of torque at 3,250 rpm. At 5,020 rpm, Harley-Davidson rates the engine for 93 horsepower (69 kilowatts). The Road King comes with a six-speed cruise drive transmission.

Road King Special

Harley-Davidson equips the Road King Special with the Milwaukee-Eight 114 engine, which generates 118 lbf-ft (160 N-m) of torque at 3,250 rpm, and musters 97 HP (72 kW) at 5,020 rpm. The Road King Special’s powerful punch is matched with commanding lines, including Low Profile Engine Guards and Prodigy custom wheels.
