American Honda recently unveiled its 2022 model year Pioneer 500 side-by-side. The compact, versatile UTV can fit in the back of a full-size pickup and come in new colors for the new model year.

Nimble Handling & More

"Owners of Honda's smaller side-by-sides recognize the advantages of short wheelbases and low vehicle weights," says American Honda Sports & Experiential Manager Brandon Wilson. "The Pioneer 520 and Pioneer 500 offer nimble handling that makes them fun on the trail, but they're also surprisingly competent when it comes to performing tasks – and they're offered at very attractive retail prices."

Power & Convenience

The Pioneer 500 is built to handle outdoor exploration and cleaning up your to-do list with equal aplomb. Its compact size enables it to travel width-restricted trails and its quality suspension ensures a smooth ride. The Pioneer 500 has a 1,000-pound (454-kilogram) towing capacity and a 450-lb (204-kg) rear-rack load limit. The UTV’s five-speed gearbox lets you quickly toggle between automatic or manual shifting. Paddle shifters mounted on the steering column can override the automatic mode on the fly.

The Pioneer 500 has a fuel-injected 475-cc engine, a suspension with dual-rate coil springs, and front and rear hydraulic disc brakes. The chassis has an overall length of 102.5 inches (2,603.5 millimeters), a 73.1-in. (1,857-mm) wheelbase, and is 50 in. (1,270 mm) wide. The single-function door and side nets open together using the twist-action door-release knob. The entry-level UTV fits in the bed of a full-size pickup, eliminating the need for a trailer; it comes in red or olive colors and will be available in January.
