Polaris Unveils 2021 600R Race Sled Designed For Team Polaris Racing

Polaris recently unveiled the 2021 600R Race Sled, the snowmobile Team Polaris Racing will compete with at such events as the Canterbury Snocross, the I-500, and the Jackson Hole World Championship in the upcoming season. The 600R has several new features designed specifically for racing, some of which can also be found on the company’s XCR and Khaos production models.

“Over the entire history of the Polaris Snowmobiles brand, we have used racing to develop and prove out our high-performance snowmobiles,” says Chris Wolf, president, snowmobiles, at Polaris. “That tradition is strong today, pushing technology with the 600R, and demonstrating the strength and performance of our production sleds with the XCR and Khaos.”

“Purpose-Built For Racing”

The 2021 Polaris 600R Race Sled is based on the AXYS R platform and features a Polaris Race independent front suspension, a 136-inch RX2 rear suspension, and Walker Evans Racing Velocity Shocks. It’s powered by a 600 race engine with Polaris Racing technology that is lighter-weight and can produce an extra 18 horsepower (13.4 kilowatts) operating in the midrange and an extra 10 hp (7.5 kW) at its peak. As the 600R is “purpose-built for racing,” according to Polaris, the additional power of the engine allows for improved holeshots and a higher top speed.

Championship Pedigree In Production

Several of Polaris’ production snowmobiles take advantage of race-oriented features found on such models as the new 2021 Polaris 600R. The INDY XCR, for example, features brakes and other components with Polaris Racing Technology as well as Walker Evans Velocity shocks. Another example, the RMK Khaos, also features Walker Evans Velocity shocks, along with an 850 Patriot engine, which Polaris says “provide the power and response required to dominate the mountain.”
