Indian Motorcycle ClimaCommand Classic Seat Is Heated & Cooled For Comfortable Riding Whatever The Weather

Indian Motorcycle aims to make warm-weather riding a better experience with its new ClimaCommand Classic Seat. Compared to automotive-style HVAC convection systems that push cool air through perforations on the seat surface, ClimaCommand technology uses a thermoelectric module that pumps heat away from the rider. The ClimaCommand Classic Seat can also heat up in cold weather.

How It Works

To accomplish conduction heating and cooling, thermoelectric elements located within the seat directly regulate its temperature. According to Indian, electricity is applied by a thermoelectric module to a graphene material—said to be both highly conductive and flexible—causing one side of the material to absorb heat and the opposing side to dissipate heat. Reversing the electrical flow will cause the graphene’s hot and cold temperatures to alternate sides. The graphene material also disperses the heating and cooling throughout the entire seat. Ducting systems in the seat also cool the thermoelectric module.

Thunderstroke Compatible

Indian says the cushioned ClimaCommand Classic Seat is designed to be fitted onto its Thunderstroke-powered models. The new seat offers independent rider and passenger controls (low, medium, and high) for both heating and cooling levels. The graphene seat’s vinyl cover is said to be highly durable and water- and UV-resistant. Indian is also designing armrest pads and a trunk backrest pad that seamlessly match the look of the ClimaCommand Classic Seat. At this time, the seat doesn’t integrate with Ride Command, but Indian says integrated versions will be available for the 2020 Chieftain and Roadmaster later this year.
