New 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800 & V-Strom 800 Touring Motorcycles Ready For Your Next Adventure
Suzuki’s V-Strom adventure motorcycle lineup for 2024 includes new V-Strom 800 and V-Strom 800 Touring models, which join the manufacturer’s dirt-centric V-Strom 800DE introduced in November 2022 and the V-Strom 800DE Adventure in the 800-cc class. The “V” in all the models’ names stands for “versatility,” so it’s not surprising Suzuki designed the latest configurations to tackle daily commutes, cross-country rides, and challenging treks through canyons. As with the 800DE and Suzuki’s GSX-8S street bike, the new V-Stroms’ flexibility is powered by Suzuki’s 776-cc parallel-twin engine.
The V-Strom 800s Up Close
The V-Strom 800 and 800 Touring are characterized by the same angular bodywork exhibited in all of Suzuki’s adventure-focused bikes, along with the same “beak” styling and graphics on the aerodynamic fairing. The V-Strom 800’s Metallic Matte Steel Green color scheme has a nature-like vibe, while the 800 Touring’s Glass Sparkle Black paintwork has a more no-nonsense presence. The Touring adds protective hand guards and a removable, lockable 1.2-cubic-foot (34-liter) top case roomy enough to hold most full-face helmets.
Both bikes have rubber-padded foot pegs and a wide, vibration-damping, tapered handlebar to make long-distance rides more comfortable. There’s also a tall, wide windscreen above the Suzuki-signature compact mono-focus LED headlights and new Dunlop D614 tires created specifically for the V-Strom 800. The tires wrap around 19-inch (482.6-millimeter) front and 17-in. (431.8-mm) rear 7-spoke cast-aluminum wheels and have a new tread pattern and custom-engineered internal structure to enhance traction, braking, and handling.
Engine & Chassis Features
Suzuki says riders can expect a similar power delivery and exhaust note from the 270-degree crankshaft configuration of the 776-cc engine as that from 90-degree V-twins in other V-Strom models. The company’s patented Suzuki Cross Balancer system dampens engine vibration for smoother power delivery, obviating the need for heavy, complex engine mounts and keeping overall weights low.
The engine mounts to a chassis equipped with a new, advanced Showa Separate Function Fork–Big Piston (SFF-BP) inverted fork. The SFF-BP further reduces weight and stabilizes riding performance by exclusively using the right fork leg as a large damping unit, says Suzuki. The Showa rear shock absorber has a remote hand-operated hydraulic spring preload adjuster that enables tuning the suspension in seconds.
Take Control
Both motorcycles include the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), a suite of advanced electronic systems that includes the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector that provides three engine power output modes, the 5-mode Suzuki Traction Control System that helps limit rear wheel spin, and the Suzuki Bi-Directional Quick Shift system that enables easy clutch-free shifting. Riders also have two levels of sensitivity available from the anti-lock braking system (ABS).
