Suzuki Unveils All-New GSX-8 Streetfighter

Suzuki says its all-new GSX-8S midsize naked sport bike for 2023 sets an exciting trend for the new generation of Suzuki motorcycles that will lead the brand into the future. Engineered from the ground up, the GSX-8S boasts an aggressive, mass-forward appearance that’s slim, compact, well-balanced, and that Suzuki says is “ready for action.” The bike’s focal point is its new fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC 776-cc four-stroke parallel-twin engine with 270-degree crankshaft timing and the patented Suzuki Cross Balancer. The manufacturer says the balancer brings forth smooth operation and is key to the bike’s light weight and compact size, and for nimble, reliable handling.

“A Thoroughly Modern Design”

Expected in June, the GSX-8 has several design elements that help it stand out, including brand-new Pearl Cosmic Blue and Pearl Tech White color options created exclusively for the bike. Suzuki says the bright, solid pearl finish of Pearl Cosmic Blue changes the bike’s appearance depending on how light strikes it, and the pearly white finish of Pearl Tech White “creates a mechanically futuristic appearance.” The third color option, Metallic Matte Black No. 2 / Glass Sparkle Black, captures the bike’s “streetfighter soul,” the company says.

Also worth noting is the GSX-8’s angular stacked LED headlights and strips of position lights in the upper cowling, which Suzuki says introduce a unique new face to motorcycling. The bike’s short and compact muffler outlet, exposed subframe, and slim tail section, meanwhile, keep the body compact and help highlight the new engine. Other interesting design details include the bike’s graphics and fonts, which Suzuki first introduced for the 2022 GSX-S1000. Suzuki says their inclusion with the GSX-8 connects it to the S1000’s naked roadster legacy but also further highlights the “8S” moniker, which resembles the endless loop of the infinity symbol.

The GSX-8S

The GSX-8S has a 57.7-inch (1,465-millimeter) wheelbase, a 445-pound (202-kilogram) curb weight, and a 31.9-in. (810-mm) seat height. Both the rider and passenger seats have weather-resistant covering. The 3.7-gallon (14-liter) fuel tank provides additional clearance for the rider’s knees due to its narrow rear section, Suzuki points out.

The bike’s six-speed transmission uses the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS), and a bi-directional Quick Shift system is included for clutchless shifting. Also on board is the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), which integrates such advanced electronic control systems as the three-mode Suzuki Drive Mode Selector and the four-mode Suzuki Traction Control System. A new 5-inch multifunction instrument panel gives riders control of the SIRS systems.
