Ski-Doo Freeride Wins ‘Best Of The Best’ Honor In 2021 Red Dot Awards

Ski-Doo’s snowmobile product designs were recognized in the 2021 Red Dot Awards, highlighted by the Ski-Doo Freeride earning the “Best of the Best” distinction reserved for groundbreaking design.

"It is a true honor to receive such distinction that is commensurate with our hard work,” says BRP Senior Vice-President, Design, Innovation and Creative Services, Denys Lapointe. “This prestigious award reflects the team effort and BRP's passion and expertise to exceed customer and industry expectations.”

Ski-Doo’s Skandic Wide-Track snowmobile and LinQ Sleigh cargo accessory also took home Red Dot Awards with the expert jury noting their high levels of flexibility and functionality.

Freeride Snowmobile

The 2022 Freeride is built to maneuver in deep snow thanks to a new, shorter tunnel length that improves snow evacuation. The Red Dot Award jury says "extreme reduction is what characterizes the design of the Ski-Doo Freeride and thus fundamentally changes the perception of this type of vehicle.” The Freeride’s lightweight components are complemented by a two-stroke Rotax 850 E-TEC or 850 E-TEC Turbo engine that delivers 165 horsepower (123 kilowatts) at up to 8,000 feet. The jury summarized the snowmobile’s ride quality thusly: “Good maneuverability, performance, and reliable handling merge for an impressive riding experience."

Skandic Wide-Track & LinQ Sleigh

The Skandic snowmobile sleds are made to reliably haul heavy loads thanks to long, ultra-wide tracks that create a big footprint and float through all types of snow. An easy-shifting transmission featuring multiple gear ratios allows for high load resistance, and the Multi-LinQ plate can handle 125 pounds (57 kilograms) of cargo. The Red Dot Award jury found the LinQ Sleigh to be an apt companion, saying that “well-thought-out details make the Ski-Doo LinQ Sleigh convenient to use and a practical solution for transporting gear."
