Honda Powersports Brings Back Kid-Friendly CRF50F Trail Bike For 2021 Model Year

As part of a recent announcement that it will bring its ADV150 ($4,299) scooter-adventure combo bike to the United States for the 2021 model year complete with a “city adventure” design, Honda Powersports also announced it will return its kid-friendly and pocketsize CRF50F ($1,599) trail bike. Additionally, Honda is bringing back the CB300R ABS ($4,949) featuring a Neo-Sports Café design and the C125 Super CUB ($3,749) that’s billed as the highest-selling motor vehicle of all time. All four models are set for June 2020 availability. Here’s a look at the CRF50F.

Kid-Friendly Riding

Flashing Honda’s well-known red and white colors, the CRF50F includes numerous features designed to get kids out riding on the trail and keep them safe while they’re doing so. In addition to a steel frame designed to “handle the bumps and dings of off-road riding,” the bike features an adjustable throttle limiter that lets parents set the bike’s top speed with a turn of a screw. The CRF50F’s three-speed transmission, meanwhile, features an automatic clutch that helps eliminate worries about stalling while kids are learning to ride. Elsewhere, the bike’s keyed ignition means kids need to acquire a removable key from a parent before starting the bike.

When kids are riding on the 110-pound (50-kilogram) CRF50F, they’ll enjoy 5.8 inches (14.73 centimeters) of ground clearance, a 21.6-in. (54.9-cm) seat height, and 36-in. (91.4-cm) wheelbase. The bike also has an inverted telescopic fork front suspension with 3.5 in. (8.89 cm) of travel and a single-shock rear suspension with 2.8 in. (7.1 cm) of travel. Honda describes the bike’s 49-cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, low-maintenance engine as being “famously reliable” and helping to reduce frustration and hassles.
