Honda Bringing Back Several Color Options For Its Pioneer 500, 700 & 1000 UTVs Coming In Mid-2020
Honda’s Pioneer family of recreational UTVs includes the 500, 700, and 1000 models. The three core models are two-seaters, but there is also a four-seater Pioneer 700-4 model and a five-seater Pioneer 1000-5 model. The 700 and 1000 models also feature deluxe trim options, which include exclusive color options (more on those later) and other upgrades.
The Pioneer 500, which features 2WD and 4WD driving modes, is the smallest of the bunch and features a 475cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and a five-speed automatic transmission that also has a manual mode with paddle shifting. It has a 73-inch (1,854-millimeter) wheelbase and 8.5-inch (216-millimeter) ground clearance. It also has a curb weight of 1,025 pounds (465 kilograms) and a towing capacity of 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms).
Pioneer 700 & 1000 Specifications
The middle model, the Pioneer 700, features a 675cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and what Honda describes as an “automotive-style” transmission with three forward gears and a reverse gear. Deluxe models have the same automatic/manual modes as the 500. It also features 2WD and 4WD driving modes. The Pioneer 700 has a 76.8-inch (1,950-millimeter) wheelbase and 10.7-inch (272-millimeter) ground clearance. It has a curb weight of 1,268 pounds (575 kilograms), a bed capacity of 1,000 pounds, and towing capacity of 1,500 pounds (680.4 kilograms).
The big brother in the group, the Pioneer 1000, has a 999cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, Unicam four-stroke engine and a fully automatic DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) with six forward gears and a reverse gear. It also features four drive modes, including 2WD, 4WD, Turf, and Differential Lock, and has three modes for its paddle shifters, including standard, sport, and manual. The Pioneer 1000 has an 80.2-inch (2,037-millimter) wheelbase and 12.7-inch (323-millimeter) ground clearance. It also has a curb weight of 1,538 pounds (698 kilograms), towing capacity of 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms), and bed capacities of 1,000 pounds in 49 states and 600 pounds (272 kilograms) in California.
New Color Options To Come
Honda recently announced that it’s bringing back several popular color options to the Pioneer lineup, all of which will be available in mid-2020. The 500, which is currently available in Honda Phantom Camo, Moose Brown, red, and white, will soon have options for Metallic Blue and Olive. The 700 model will add Olive in addition to red and white, with the standard 700-4 adding red in addition to Metallic Silver and the 700-4 Deluxe adding Matte Silver to its existing Honda Phantom Camo and Pearl Red options. Currently available in Honda Phantom Camo, red, and black, the Pioneer 1000 Deluxe side-by-side will add white as an option in 2020. The 1000-5 Deluxe adds Metallic Silver in addition to Honda Phantom Camo, red, and Reactor Blue.
