Honda’s Midrange 2020 CRF125F Dirt Bike Offers 'No-Hassle Fun' For Younger & Smaller Riders

    Posted On: September 12, 2019

Priced at $3,099, the CRF125F falls in the middle of Honda’s off-road dirt bike lineup, and is designed for younger riders just getting started, as well as for smaller-sized adults. (Photo courtesy of Honda.)

The middle of Honda’s off-road lineup of CRF dirt bikes is where you’ll find the Honda CRF125F, a $3,099 model that Honda says hits the “sweet spot of no-hassle fun for younger riders and smaller adults.” And while it may be slotted in the middle of Honda’s 2020 model year dirt bike lineup including eight Honda CRF Performance models and four CRF Trail bikes, Honda says it “leads the pack in fun.” Here’s a closer look at the bike.

    Rough & Ready

The CRF125F is designed for riders just beginning to hone their dirt bike chops, and provides numerous features designed for such. For example, because less-experienced riders are tough on components especially when starting out, Honda says it equipped the bike with a durable twin-spar-styled steel frame and swing arm. Elsewhere, because “taking a spill is a natural part of learning,” Honda integrated strong plastic fenders, gas tank, and other components inspired by the company’s larger CRF motocross bikes that can “shrug off the minor dings of the real world.”

An electric starter makes it easier to get going, and the keyed ignition switch provides added security in households with younger riders. Elsewhere, a four-speed transmission combines with a heavy-duty clutch that Honda says provides smooth shifting, while a low 29.1-inch (73.91-centimeter) seat height “helps build confidence right from the start.” The four-stroke, single-cylinder SOHC 124cc engine, meanwhile, provides what Honda says is quality performance with a wide power band that’s “perfect for a wide range of riders, including beginners.”

Honda also offers the CRF125F off-road dirt bike in a Big Wheel version ($3,499) that’s billed as providing the “same great bike” as the CRF125 but in a frame size more suitable for taller riders. (Photo courtesy of Honda.)

The 2020 model year CRF125F also includes more efficient Keihin electronic fuel injection, 1.22-inch (31-millimeter) telescopic front fork with 5.2 inches (13.21 centimeters) of travel (an inch increase from 2019), and Pro-Link single-shock rear suspension with 5.5 inches (13.97 centimeters) of travel (also an inch extra). Further, Honda offers a CRF125F Big Wheel version ($3,499) that is “the same great bike but a better fit for taller riders.”
