A Brief History

ARGO is a part of Ontario Drive & Gear (ODG) Limited’s Gear Division and specializes in manufacturing all-terrain vehicles. ODG was founded in 1962 in Kitchener, Ontario, and built its first 6x6 ARGO ATV in 1967, followed by an 8x8 model in 1971. In the late 1960s, the company moved to its current location in New Hamburg, Ontario, and established its headquarters on 10 acres of land. Today, that location has three dedicated facilities including space for offices, manufacturing, and more. ARGO continues to produce 6x6 and 8x8 UTVs, as well as a wide range of other products under the ODG banner.

ARGO’s four-wheel ATVs include the Xplorer XC, XR, and XRT product families. In 2021, ARGO introduced its Magnum XF family of standard, side-by-side UTVs. The company’s 6x6 and 8x8 amphibious XTV lines include the Aurora, Conquest, and Frontier series. Load capacity in the water for the Frontier 6x6 models is typically over 300 pounds (136 kilograms), while the Frontier 8x8 models increase load capacity to more than 500 lbs (227 kg).
