Honda’s Top-Selling Navi MiniMoto Back For 2023
The popular Navi has returned to Honda’s MiniMoto lineup for 2023. Introduced last year, the Navi has since cemented itself as the industry’s top-selling on-road motorcycle, Honda says. Why is the bike so popular? One reason is that it’s easy to learn to ride, thanks to features like an electric starter and a clutchless V-Matic automatic transmission—just twist the throttle and go. In addition, the Navi’s compact size and weight make it simple to park and handle. Last but not least is the bike’s stellar gas mileage; Honda says it has run the Navi for 110.3 miles (177 kilometers) on one 1-gallon (3.8-liter) tank in testing.
Part Scooter, Part Motorcycle
Mix a bit of Honda’s Ruckus scooter with a bit of its Grom MiniMoto motorcycle and you get the scooter-motorcycle sensibility of the Navi. Like a scooter, the Navi’s single-cylinder, two-valve 109.2-cc fan-cooled engine is mounted in the rear, leaving room for a lockable storage pod in front of the seat to store a laptop, jacket, and other personal items. The power plant uses Honda’s eSP friction-reducing technology, which the manufacturer says contributes to its outstanding fuel economy.
As with the Grom, Navi owners can personalize their bike with a wide range of options, from Honda accessories like an optional windscreen and a rear cargo rack, to custom graphics kits from Icon and TrueTimber. The bike comes in Red, Grasshopper Green, Nut Brown, and Ranger Green color options, which nicely complement its blacked-out frame, wheels, suspension, engine, and exhaust.
Dimensions & Suspension
The Navi’s fairly long 50.6-inch (1,285-millimeter) wheelbase contributes to its excellent handling and stability, Honda says, as do the 30-in. (762-mm) height and narrower front of the seat. Also pitching in are the bike’s durable pressed-steel wheels, which measure 12 in. (305 mm) up front and 10 in. (254 mm) at the rear.
The Navi weighs just 234 pounds (106 kilograms) and is only 71.2 in. long by 29.1 in. wide by 41.1 in. high (1,808 by 739 by 1,044 mm). Despite its compact size, the bike incorporates a passenger grip and foot pegs for those times when you want to take a friend along. The Navi’s 26.8-mm telescopic inverted fork has 3.9 in. (99 mm) of travel, and the rear suspension with single side-mounted shock has 2.8 in. (71 mm) of travel.
