BRP Announces 2023 Lynx Snowmobile Lineup, Including New Shredder & Xterrain Models
Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has announced the 2023 product lineup for its Lynx snowmobile brand, which for the first time includes Lynx Shredder RE and Shredder DS deep-snow models built on BRP’s new Radien2 frame and powered by a beefy two-stroke, 849-cc engine. The Lynx family also includes Xterrain RE and Xterrain Brutal crossover snowmobiles available with two- and four-stroke engine options, and the Rave RE sports model.
Ready To Shred
The new Shredders come with a two-stroke 849-cc Rotax 850 E-TEC engine or an optional, turbo-charged 849-cc Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R unit; both are equipped with Electronic Direct Injection. The Shredder includes an option for a large 10.25-inch color touchscreen display that gives riders easy access to the BRP Connect system, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, BRP Go! app compatibility, and over-the-air software updates.
Thanks to the new Radien2 frame, the snowmobiles weigh as much as 35 pounds (16 kilograms) less than those they replace. They also have less drag and require less rider input, and have a slimmer hood and side panel profile. They’re equipped with 3,440-lumen LED headlights with low and high beams. Both Shredder models include a PPS DS+ rear suspension designed for running in deep snow and is 6.6 lbs (3 kg) lighter than previous models. The snowmobiles have 381-millimeter-wide tracks, and riders can adjust the Shredder’s high-capacity KYB Kashima shocks to adjust the ride as needed to suit varying riding conditions.
Nowhere Is Off Limits
Designed to go just about anywhere, the Xterrain Brutal and RE models for 2023 come standard with a two-stroke 849-cc Rotax 850 E-TEC engine and provide the option to upgrade to a bigger, 899-cc four-stroke 900 ACE Turbo R power plant. Both snowmobiles are equipped with a low windshield, handguards, Explorer bumpers, and a 7.2-inch digital display.
The RE offers a choice of either BRP’s Radien or Radien-X frame, and comes with a PPS rear suspension with 46-mm KYB Kashima HLCR shocks. The RE also includes an LFS+ front suspension with a 42-in. (1,067-mm) ski stance and Blade XC+ skis well-suited for cross-country riding. The Brutal is built on the Radien-X frame by default, as well as an EasyRide rear suspension with 46-mm KYB Kashima shocks, an LFS front suspension with 39.2-in. (996-mm) ski stance, and Blade DS+ skis designed for deep snow. The Brutal’s PowderMax tracks each measure 20 in. (500 mm) wide, compared to the RE’s 16-in. (406-mm) track width.
