Fully self-adjustable suspension technology. That’s what BRP motorsports brand Can-Am plans to deliver on its 2021 Maverick X3 X rs Turbo RR with the new Smart-Shox system. Said to be the only suspension in the industry that controls both compression and rebound for enhanced performance, Smart-Shox constantly monitors wheel position and velocity. And with a valve-reaction time of 17 milliseconds, Smart-Shox quickly adjusts to changing off-road conditions for improved shock absorption and filtering.
Performance Benefits
Controlling both compression and rebound allows the Smart-Shox technology to give the Can-Am Maverick X3 X rs Turbo RR better tracking of the ground surface. The end result, according to Can-Am, is increased traction, better launches, and more comfort on undulating terrain. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or a weekend warrior, this technology will make your rides better,” says Casey Currie, winner of the 2020 Dakar Rally in a Can-Am Maverick X3. “With Smart-Shox, the Maverick X3 sticks to the ground in a way I’ve never experienced, and I can’t wait to get out and race.”
Control & Comfort Improvements
Smart-Shox real-time suspension adjustments offer a variety of control and comfort benefits for riders. Just a few key control examples include improved vehicle stability, flatter cornering, and reduced front and rear bouncing. Drivers can select between three stability driving modes: Comfort, Sport, or Sport+. Additional comfort is supported by the improved ride quality, as Smart-Shox can deliver both soft and hard damping at the same time, adjusting on a per-wheel basis as needed.
