Polaris brand Indian Motorcycle recently announced the upgrades to its product line for the 2022 model year, including updated Ride Command technology across its bagger, cruiser, and touring models. The Ride Command screen will now include a speed limit overlay that displays the current legal speed limit, for instance.
“Rider feedback continues to be at the forefront of what drives refinements and enhancements for our model year offerings, and that is once again the case for 2022 with a host of new ride-enhancing technology and accessories across the lineup,” says Indian Motorcycle President Mike Dougherty. Dougherty says the new accessories are designed to provide additional storage and other amenities for long-distance rides.
High-Displacement Power
Indian Motorcycle announced that its air-cooled baggers and touring models, which include the 2022 Springfield, Chieftain, and Roadmaster lineups, will feature the Thunderstroke engine. Challenger bikes for 2022 feature the PowerPlus liquid-cooled 122-horsepower (91-kilowatt) engine with 128 foot-pounds (173.5 newton-meters) of torque. 2022 Indian Challenger models also include new traction control, which was retuned based on rider feedback to provide a smoother feel when engaged. The 2022 Indian Scout Sixty and Scout Bobber Sixty models boast a 999-cc, 78-HP (58-kW) engine, while the Scout, Scout Bobber, and Scout Bobber Twenty are equipped with a 1,133-cc, 100-HP (74.5-kW) engine.
Fresh Accessories & Paint Colors
The manufacturer’s new accessories are part the Indian Motorcycle Spirit Lake luggage line, and the options include a rack bag, day bag, and touring bag—each with a shoulder strap that securely attaches to the motorcycle and can be used to carry the bags when away from the bike. All-new rear LED saddlebag lights are also available and integrate with the 2022 models’ standard lighting. On the new Scout models, Indian is introducing a 5.75-inch Pathfinder Adaptive LED headlight that senses the motorcycle’s lean and activates individual LED beams for better visibility. New paint options for 2022 include a wide selection of metallic- and smoke-inspired colorways, including Marron Metallic and Ruby Smoke.
