Honda Introduces TRX90X ATV For Young Riders
Every young ATV rider has to start somewhere, and it's young riders that Honda has in mind with its new, kid-friendly TRX90X sport ATV. With a 38.7-inch (983-millimeter) wheelbase and a seat height of just 26 in. (660 mm), it’s the smallest sport model in Honda’s lineup.
"Honda put ATVs on the map, and we're pleased to continue offering a strong lineup for the 2022 model year," says American Honda Sports & Experiential Manager, Brandon Wilson. “The TRX90X is a great choice for young ones getting their start off-road."
The new TRX90X comes in a white or red finish at a modest price point. Honda recommends it for riders of age 10 years and older.
Their First Honda
The TRX90X is on the smaller side at just 58.6 in. (1,488 mm) in length, 35.2 in. (894 mm) in width, and 36.5 in. (927 mm) in height. The 262-pound (119-kilogram) ATV comes with a number of other youth-friendly features, along with a few that will reassure parents.
A semi-automatic clutch makes it easier for new riders to start and stop the ATV. It also simplifies things for them as they learn to shift gears on the vehicle’s four-speed manual transmission.
The TRX90X boasts a push-button electric start feature, although the capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) requires a key in the switch in order to operate. That lets parents or responsible adults decide who can ride the ATV and when, Honda says. In addition, an adjustable throttle limiter can cap the engine’s power level and the TRX90X’s top speed as young riders learn how to keep the vehicle under control.
Powertrain & Suspension
Honda’s proven 86-cc engine provides the TRX90X’s go-power. A 0.59-in (15-mm) piston valve carburetor feeds the air-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder mill the correct mixture of fuel and air. The ATV has a generous 1.7-gallon (6.4-liter) fuel capacity that includes a 0.3-gal (11.4-L) reserve.
An O-ring-sealed chain drive transfers the engine’s power to the TRX90X’s 19 x 8-8 rear tires. The front wheels are shod with 20 x 7-8 rubber. Sealed drum brakes in the back and dual sealed drums up front provide firm stopping power.
The TRX90X has an independent front suspension with two shock absorbers inside color-matched, coilover springs. A single shock ably suspends the ATV’s rear swingarm. Each of the shocks provide 2.6 in. (66 mm) of travel to keep the knobby tires in contact with uneven terrain.
Honda backs the TRX90X with a transferable, one-year limited warranty. The ATV meets EPA and CARB emissions standards.
